Victory!

The Dallas Mavericks have won their first NBA championship in franchise history. They defeated LeBron James and the Miami Heat 105-95 on Sunday in Game 6 of a best-of-seven series. The Maverick's Dirk Nowitski got the Finals MVP award. Nowitski was also on the Mav's team that went to the 2006 finals, but lost to Miami.

This year, Miami came 2 games short of winning the title in a year that was so full of potential with "The Big 3" (Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh & Lebron James). Nowitski has been chasing a title for 13 years and now he finally has one. Nowitski stayed cool and beat the Heat!

I personally thought the Mavs were going to blow out the Heat, but 4 out of the 6 games were decided by 3 points or less.

Rebounding

The Indians got swept in a 4-game series against the Texas Rangers, that went from Thursday to Sunday.  They'll play the New York Yankees Friday. However, they'll play the Minnesota Twins, who hold the MLB's worst record at 21-37 (.362 pct) Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
So the Tribe might get a couple easy wins before they face the team that leads the majors in World Series championships (27).  GO TRIBE

The Fireworks

Here's a picture of the fireworks

Night at Progressive Field

Friday night my dad and I went to the Indians' game against the Texas Rangers. We got to the game about 2 hours early to watch batting practice. We just missed seeing the Indians but got to see the Rangers. A ball was hit into the outfield and a Rangers player threw it into the stands. I almost caught it but a guy pushed me from behind and knocked it out of my glove. My dinner was a hotdog as big as my arm!
The Slugger Dog!

We sat way up behind the Indian's dugout. It was really fun even though the Tribe lost 11-2. There were really cool fireworks after the game.

Double Digit Double Header

Thursday I played a double-header against the Hudson Fury. In the 1st game Hudson went up 9-0 by the bottom of the last inning (we were the home team).  We rallied in that inning and scored 8 runs and almost won. In the second game (which lasted from 8:30 pm to 11:30 pm) we won 22-9!

Fun stat:  From the last inning of the 1st game and through the entire 2nd game, my team outscored Hudson 30-9!

A Nail Biter!

Today my baseball team, the Streetsboro Rockets, played a nail-biter game against the Tsunami (from Oakwood).  We were down 5-4 in the bottom of the last inning, when Ty A. singled and after Dominic C. ground out, our first baseman Liam S. singled. After a double steal that put runners at second and third with one out, catcher Brandon "BP" smashed a two-strike pitch into the gap in between center and right field. Two runs scored. We all went crazy. Final score 6-5, Rockets win.

Red Hot Sox

The Boston Red Sox have scored 28 runs in their last two games, while allowing only 3 runs. They beat the Indians (boo!) 14-2 on Wednesday and the Tigers 14-1 on Thursday.

Second Baseman Pitches

Yesterday the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds played a marathon-like game lasting 19 innings. The Phillies ran out of pitchers so they pitched their second baseman! Now, being an infielder myself, I just about gave up hope of pitching on my 5th grade baseball team. This game gave me new hope!

Long time, no see!

This past Sunday the Boston Red Sox finished a 3-game series against the Chicago Cubs in Boston. It was the first time the Cubs have played Boston in Fenway Park since 1918 - that's 93 years! They both sported the uniforms they wore in 1918.
